We do almost everything on our phones and computers these days, including shopping. Today, I wanted to share my favorite way to earn extra cash back on my online purchases. You may have seen the Ebates commercial on TV, but I’m sure many of you wonder if it’s a scam. Well, I’m here to show you it’s completely FREE and LEGIT! I’ve been using Ebates for years. Read on for my honest, unbiased Ebates review to find out more, or click here to sign up and get your $10 bonus (when you make a $25 purchase).
I like shopping at the mall, but honestly I’m mostly an online shopper, ever since I was old enough to own a credit card. Needless to say, I’ve been known for having the most packages delivered to my place! I’d like to think, after many years of practice, that I am a pretty savvy online shopper and Ebates is one tool I use consistently. I wanted to share my Ebates review in case anyone here is skeptical and hesitant to sign up.
Ebates Review: Does It Really Work?
I’ve been using it for over 10 years, so I can say Ebates really does give you free cash back without any strings attached. Here’s a screenshot of my account summary in the top right corner. You can see that I’ve made over $1,400 cashback (and over $121 on my next payout, yay)! Not too shabby, huh?
In fact, because of their great cashback deals, sometimes I will intentionally shop online via Ebates rather than go into the brick-and-mortar store. Not only is it more convenient but saves me more money! The way I see it, if you are going to buy something anyway, why not try to save some cash while you’re at it?
Ebates will pay out your cash every February, May, August, and November. I have my account linked to my PayPal so it’s super easy! You can choose to receive a check in the mail too but I like having the money deposited automatically.
Ebates receives a commission from an online store when they refer a shopper, and the shopper makes a purchase. Ebates, in turn, shares a percentage of that commission with you (the shopper!) by giving you cash back. Simple, right?
How Do I Use Ebates?
- Sign up for Ebates here. I’m sharing a $10 bonus with you if you sign up through the link! This offer is for new members (if you make a $25 minimum purchase after signing up)!
- Now that you’re logged into your account, just search for the store you want to shop at on Ebates. If the store is available on Ebates, you’ll see it on the search results. Click the store name and it will take you to a page like this:
I’ve used Sephora.com as an example because it’s one of the stores I frequent most on Ebates. You can check out the available coupons first, then click the “Shop Now” link, which will take you to Sephora’s homepage. Your purchase will now be tracked on Ebates. Now you just make your purchase as you normally would, and Ebates will automatically credit you the cash back (usually within a week).
Tips On Using Ebates
–You can STILL use discount and promotional codes in addition to Ebates. So you can stack up on those discounts! So make sure you search for promotional codes before purchasing and browse the “Coupons” section (see screenshot above).
-Download the Ebates Cash Back Button browser extension if you don’t want to forget to use Ebates. When you browse a merchant’s website, Ebates will automatically show you a pop up reminding you to activate your cash back, without even visiting Ebates.com! It will also find you the best coupon codes automatically and apply them for you.
-Get cash back in-store as well! I haven’t tried this feature yet, but it looks simple enough. You do have to link your credit card information though, in order to use this feature. Here’s a link in case you want to read about it.
-Check the “Double Cash Back Stores” section (see screenshot above) for higher percentage cash back! You can get double (or sometimes more!) the cash back you normally would. These promos are for a limited time, and I find that usually around seasonal sales time (like Black Friday, Christmas, etc) they will have even more double cash back deals. For example, at the time of publishing this post, they’re offering 10% cash back at JCPenney (normally it’s 1%)!
-If for some reason Ebates logged your shopping trip, but you did not receive credit for your purchase yet, click on “Track My Cash Back” in the Help Center. Here, you can enter the order information and it will find the cash back for you. Usually I get the cash back credit instantly when I do this. I would suggest checking your Ebates periodically to make sure your purchases have all been credited! Keep in mind it can take several days.
My Favorite Online Stores That Use Ebates

Rag & Bone
Beauty and Makeup:
Bath & Body Works
Bobbi Brown Cosmetics
Kat Von D
Barney’s New York
Saks Fifth Avenue
