Hi everyone! Does anyone else here just have the hardest time finding a hair salon? I’m pretty low maintenance about my hair in general, but even for me, I’ve never really had a “go-to” hair salon I can frequent. I can’t recall many salons I’ve been to more than twice because there was always some reason for me to look for a new one. Whether it was too hard to get appointments, or the price, or the stylist didn’t do what I wanted, etc. Step in Spruce & Cedar Hair Salon.
Spruce & Cedar Hair Salon
If you’re looking for a new hair salon in the Los Angeles area, I suggest checking out this one! They are located right in the heart of Culver City (West Los Angeles). I discovered this salon completely unintentionally, and I’m glad I did! 2017 was such a crazy, busy year for me and I neglected my hair for several months during that time. The new year meant time for a refresh!
When you set foot into Spruce & Cedar, it’s a beautiful, modern, open space with plenty of sunshine. Not to mention super clean! I also have to add, the shampoo chairs are REALLY comfy. You know when you go to a salon, and after they shampoo you have a stiff neck because the chair is so hard and your neck is bent at a weird angle? Not the case here.
So, I made an appointment with Gwen (the owner), for a cut and color. My hair was just getting too long and my balayage was grown out. I expressed that I was trying to go a lot blonder, but my hair is practically black so I knew I wasn’t gonna get platinum in one go, but I wanted to see how blonde I could get. I was very happy with the result! I’m almost embarrassed to show you, but I think it’s helpful to see a before and after transformation, so here goes.
Before & After:
I am loving the caramel blonde color, and my hair feels WAY softer than when I came in! That is amazing considering how much bleach is needed to lighten my hair to this degree, usually that leaves your hair feeling fried but not the case for me. They use high quality products like Redken Color, Pureology, and AG Hair, which helps!
Gwen is super helpful, friendly, and very patient! Trust me, I was at that salon for a while letting my hair bleach, which you definitely need patience for. Can’t recommend her enough. I’m looking forward to my next visit, when I’m gonna see if I can go even blonder!
