Do you own a lot of makeup but feel like you always end up using the same products? Do you accidentally buy multiples of the same lip color because you forgot you already had one? Do you spend too much time getting ready because you’re always digging around for your favorite makeup?

As a makeup lover, I’ve experienced all of these problems! I realized that organizing your makeup and beauty products properly is the BEST way to avoid these issues.

Not sure how to go about it? This guide will show you some of my favorite beauty organization tools and some cheaper alternatives. It’s time to get into spring cleaning mode and get your makeup and beauty products organized!

How to Organize Makeup

Organizing makeup brushes, lipsticks, eyeshadows, and blushes can be a big task, but these organizers make it easier!

Luxe Acrylic Modular Makeup System -How to Organize Makeup and Beauty Products

Luxe Acrylic Modular Makeup System

This is hands down my favorite way to store my makeup. This makeup organization system looks very luxe and classy sitting on your vanity or bathroom counter! I get excited when I buy more tiers for this system because I just love it so much (and I love organizing).

What I love about it most is that it’s highly customizable. You can buy smaller or larger drawers depending on what you want to put in them. You can also stack the drawers as high or as wide as you want. The drawers stay in place with little rubber feet on the bottom, so they won’t slide around.

You can buy a bundle as a starter kit here, but I prefer to buy each part separately. The best part is, since the drawers are not attached to each other, you can re-organize and add to your system if you need more space.

Tips on using the Luxe Acrylic Modular Makeup System

  • Highly recommend getting the Luxe Large Acrylic Makeup Organizer to add on top of your drawers. It’s perfect for makeup brushes and your everyday makeup items to keep within easy reach. The lipstick tray is removable too!
  • These modular drawers can add up if you buy several pieces, but there are usually coupons available to bring down the price. You can also join their free rewards program to get more discounts.
  • When stacking your drawers, place the smaller drawers on the bottom layers if you have a lot of makeup to put inside. I know the photos show the larger drawers on the bottom, but that’s because there isn’t much inside. Put the larger, wider drawers on the top layers. Trust me, the weight will be distributed much better this way.

Otherwise, the large drawers will bend in the middle if you stack too much weight on top. After I discovered this problem, I rearranged my drawers and have had no problem since. Currently, I have four tiers of drawers and it’s holding up very well even under the weight of all my makeup.

Felicite Acrylic Jewelry and Cosmetic Storage Makeup Organizer Set

This is an excellent lower-priced alternative to the Luxe Acrylic Modular System! It has awesome reviews and you can purchase several different drawer combinations and add-ons (like a lipstick tray). The only downside is that it doesn’t look like you can just purchase an individual drawer if you want to customize your set. But this is pretty affordable so you can just buy another set if you want to!

SONGMICS Makeup Organizer

If you don’t want a clear organizer where you can see everything inside, this sleek black version may be your thing. It comes with a cushioned lining for any delicate items you may want to place inside.

Spinning Makeup Organizer With Adjustable Shelves

This is an excellent choice for small countertops or tight spaces. The stand rotates 360 degrees so you can easily store this in the corner while still having access to all of your products.

The organizer comes with 6 adjustable layers that you can customize to create shelves of different heights. The top layer also has spaces for you to organize brushes, lipsticks, nail polish, etc.

How to Organize Nail Polish

If you own dozens of bottles of nail polish like I do, keeping them organized will make your manicure time much better!

Makartt Universal Clear Nail Polish Organizer

Before I got this nail polish organizer, I kept all my polishes in a plastic bin. It was hard to keep organized, and I ended up with one big jumble. This organizer is 10x better! I love this product because I can easily see all my polishes at once. I’m able to sort my polishes by color for easy access.

Some great features of this organizer:

  • Removable dividers on one side of the compartment so you can store longer items like nail files. Or, you can insert the dividers to create more space for polishes.
  • Carrying handle to easily transport your polishes.
  • Space saving. The slim design allows me to store the case vertically instead of a bulky shoebox-sized box.
  • Clear lid to view all your polishes without opening it up.
  • Fits almost all nail polish bottle sizes! Here’s a list of what nail polishes can be stored. In addition to the list, other brands that I own that do fit inside include Color Club, Wet N’ Wild, Live Love Polish, and Sephora.

Sagler Nail Polish Rack

If you’re a serious nail polish collector, this wall mountable rack is a great way to display your polishes! It stores up to 102 bottles and comes with the hardware you need to install it on your wall.

Acrylic 5 Step Counter Display Nail Polish Organizer

If you like to display pretty nail polishes on your counter or vanity, this organizer is a great option. It stores up to 60 bottles of nail polish! It’s also great for storing essential oils, small perfumes, and other similarly sized items.

Organizers for All Beauty Products

Sterilite 3 Drawer Small Countertop Unit

These are perfect for storing extra makeup and beauty products. I keep these stowed in my closet with makeup I don’t use on a regular basis. They’re great basics if you’re not concerned about aesthetics and won’t be displaying them in your bathroom. Also, they are stackable so you store them vertically!

Seville Classics 8-Drawer Storage Bin Organizer Cart

The grey gradient color is so eye-catching and I think it would look great next to a vanity or even in the bathroom! The drawers are large enough for lotions, shampoos, hair irons, and other bigger items. Plus, the wheels make it easy to rearrange without having to lift a heavy piece of furniture.

10 Drawer Rolling Storage Cart

This is another great alternative to the rolling storage cart type of organizer. I like that it comes in black, clear, and multicolored. I also like that you can use the top for displaying makeup brushes, perfumes, or any other items for easy access.

Ikea Alex Drawer- How to organize makeup

Ikea Alex Drawer Unit with 9 Drawers

Many beauty enthusiasts consider this the holy grail of makeup organizers, so of course, I thought I would mention this item. The best thing about this is the slim width (about 14 inches), so you can easily slide this into narrower spaces. If it still seems too large, you can buy a smaller version of this.

It’s a beautiful drawer set that you will love to store your makeup in. If you want ideas on how to organize your makeup within these drawers, here’s a great video by Jackie Ann to get you started.

Clear Plastic Vanity, Desk and Kitchen Drawer Organizers

To go inside your drawers, I recommend buying some drawer organizers. You can find all shapes and sizes to fit into whatever drawer you need. I prefer the longer, narrower kind for lipglosses, eyeliners, brushes, etc. It’s easy to pull an entire compartment out to get a better look at your makeup or to reorganize your drawer.

Organize Your Makeup and Beauty Products This Spring

Alrighty, now that you have some great makeup organization products to choose from, it’s time to get started! I admit that I do love organizing things (but I hate cleaning!). But even if you don’t enjoy it, having the right products can really motivate you. Who knows, maybe you’ll find that you like organizing more than you think.

Above all, you’ll feel so much better when all your makeup is organized. You won’t ever have to spend 10 minutes searching for your favorite lipstick again. Just think of the time you’ll save in the morning!
