Hey everyone! I’m finally getting back into the swing of things after returning from South Korea, which was AMAZING! I was able to do a little shopping during my trip, particularly for cosmetics and skincare. It really revived my interest in Korean beauty products, so I thought I would share some favorites that you can purchase on Amazon right now!
Which reminds me, I have a stash of sheet masks in my bathroom that I forgot about! They’ll really come in handy now. I felt the effects of the wind and cold air while I was in Korea, my skin was SO dry even a week after I got back! I never dealt with this problem before (normally my skin is oily), so now I understand why Korean women are so into their skincare and keeping hydrated!
Read on for some awesome Korean beauty products to try!
Skinfood makes some really popular face masks (like the Black Sugar Mask), and this one is great for oily, clogged, and blackhead prone skin. If you don’t like pore cleansing masks that get really tight as they dry, and are hard to wash off, this mask is a great option! Click to see it here.
You know I’m into anything that smells like rose! I use this as a micellar water when I don’t feel like washing my face. It’s pretty effective at removing most makeup, though you might need a separate makeup remover if you have waterproof, stubborn makeup. It’s also great to use as a toner after washing your face. I’m thinking I can pour some into a spray bottle and use it as a moisturizing mist when traveling on a plane!
I LOVE the smell and real rose petals in the bottle, but also how soft your skin feels afterwards. Another Neogen product I keep in my routine! Click to see it here.
I included this product because it’s such a novel and fun beauty item to try. I was really curious about this because I never shade my brows in, I’m just too lazy, and this product claims you won’t have to shade your brows in everyday because the gel temporarily tints your brows with henna based dye.
You simply draw your brows in with the gel, let it dry for a few hours (or overnight), and gently peel off the dried gel to reveal tinted brows! The color lasted maybe two or three days on me, and it did look natural without fading into an orangey color. I wish it lasted a little longer, but overall not a bad option for natural brows. This is a super popular cleansing balm that melts away makeup and impurities to get your skin super clean and soft! The soft sherbet balm melts right onto your skin. If you don’t like the liquid cleansing oils because they’re runny, give this one a try! I would compare the feeling to when you put cotton candy in your mouth and it just melts away! I am a lip balm collector, and they’re so cute you can’t resist adding these to your collection! They come in peach, cherry tomato, and apple packaging too. It smells good and is fun to use, but as far as the quality of the lip balm, I don’t think it’s particularly special or long lasting. But it’s too freaking cute to pass up! Click to see it here.
Innisfree is another popular Korean beauty brand, and they make a variety of awesome facial mists! I like this one infused with aloe, but they also make olive oil infused, canola and honey, sparkling mineral water, lava seawater, and green tea mists.
I love having facial mists handy because they’re so versatile. Sometimes I spray it on before applying makeup if my skin needs a bit of extra moisture (in the winter), or on top of makeup throughout the day (especially good when you’re flying…that dry cabin air!). Click to see it here.
The Face Shop products are generally pretty good, and the reviews on this cleansing oil show just that. Never tried cleansing oil? Check out my review of facial cleansing oils to learn more. Your face will thank you, especially if you wear makeup!
This cleansing oil contains rice water, which is believed to “shrink pores, reduce fine lines, and tighten and brighten your skin.” I also like that it contains jojoba oil, which is a great non-comedogenic oil to use on your face! Click to see it here.
I used this type of acne patch a lot when I was a teenager, it’s very popular in Asia. You’ll even see women there walking around on the street with these patches on their face rather than concealer to cover their pimples. The patches are made out of hydrocolloid, which is a highly absorbent material used for wound healing.
They are great for acne because they help shrink zits overnight and also reduce scarring as your face heals. The patch will turn from clear to white as it absorbs fluid, and it’s oddly satisfying to see it working. You’ll wake up to less inflamed, smaller pimples! Click to see it here.
These two-sided pads make exfoliating easy! I’m a big fan of Neogen products and this is no exception. You can choose from 3 formulas (they all smell amazing!):
–Wine (contains Resveratrol, which is known to have anti-wrinkle benefits as well as naturally occurring AHAs to give you more exfoliation benefits)
–Lemon (contains lactic acid and lemon extract to brighten skin and lighten old acne spots)
–Green Tea (contains anti-oxidant green tea extract and tea tree oil to help fight acne)
First you swipe the textured gauze side over your face to remove dead skin, then flip it over and use the soft quilted side to work the product into your face. Then rinse your face off. I love these pads because you don’t need a separate face scrub! I would not recommend this for very sensitive skin, as it may be a bit too harsh, but for us exfoliating junkies, this works great to renew skin texture. Click to see it here.
You won’t believe your eyes when you see the dead skin cells coming off your face, but your face will definitely feel much softer after! If you’re looking for a more gentle exfoliation, try this gommage/peeling gel. (Gommage means to erase, and so a gommage product will help “erase” your dead skin.) This one contains lemon extract, which helps with further exfoliation and has Vitamin C!
I was a little weirded out the first time I tried peeling gels, because when I applied the gel, some bits stuck to the peach fuzz on my cheeks. But when you feel your soft skin afterwards, you’ll understand. It’s just a bonus if it took off some peach fuzz with it, lol!
Upon first use, you might think the product is just balling up on itself and not removing any dead skin. But if you use it again right after, you’ll see that there is less product balled up because it’s already removed the dead skin! Gross and satisfying at the same time! Click to see it here.
Super cute spa headband shaped like cat ears! You can look cute while washing your face and applying your face masks. Need I say more? Click to see it here.
This product got a lot of attention when people started posting silly videos of themselves with this foaming mask on. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, just go on YouTube! But this is more than just a novelty item, it’s a fun mask with pore cleansing benefits.
The mask contains charcoal which absorbs dirt, toxins, and other gunk from your pores, while the carbonation (supposedly) gets you a deeper clean. I’m not 100% convinced the carbonation adds anything extra but my skin did feel cleaner afterward. If anything, it’s only a few bucks to try this mask and scare your friends and family when you sneak up on them looking like an elephant! So worth it. Click to see it here.
Sheet masks are probably one of the most popular Korean beauty products, and for a good reason. They’re infused with different serums and moisturizers that are so good for your skin. See, I never thought sheet masks would suit me because my skin used to be super oily and acne prone. But I’m now a big fan because I see how my skin looks plump and glowy after using sheet masks, and I find it even helps shrink pimples!
This is a great starter pack that’s very affordable if you want to try sheet masks. So much cheaper than buying a single mask at cosmetic stores for $5+ each! There are a ton of Korean beauty brands that make sheet masks, and you can search for what skin condition you want to address (dry skin, firmer skin, hyperpigmentation, acne, etc).
